Details

VELOURIA is a well-maintained example of Ted Hood’s WhisperJet 44 series. Powered by twin Hamilton water jets and two Yanmar 440HP diesels, she boasts a 2’6” draft with no underwater appendages that can be damaged in a grounding or fouled by fishing gear. This makes her a terrific boat for cruising shallow waters or coastal areas where lobster pots and other floating hazards can be a major concern.

With a quality of finish that is only found in the best custom yachts VELOURIA’s interior has been crafted in varnished cherry and teak woods with Herreshoff  style white bulkheads. A large centerline queen berth forward, spacious well-appointed galley and a comfortable bridge deck make for an easy and accommodating liveaboard experience.

VELOURIA is spending the winter 2024/2025 in heated storage in Bristol, RI.

The bright cabin interior has solid varnished cherry trim, locker frames, drawer fronts and corner posts with hand-rubbed varnish finish; a white insulated hull ceiling, roller-bearing drawer slides with Kroon flush positive latches and a solid varnished teak with ebony-inlaid cabin sole finished in satin varnish. Primary bulkheads are finely crafted raised panels finished with varnished cherry and white enamel. Interior fabrics are aqua blue Ultrasuede.

Forward Cabin

The forward cabin has a centerline queen berth. Lockers, drawers and two cedar-lined hanging lockers are incorporated into the cabinetry, as well as two reading lights, two overhead fans, two portholes and an overhead hatch. Separating the owner’s cabin in the forward bulkhead, there is an opening pass-through to the galley.

Below Decks Salon

Just aft of the forward cabin is the salon with a settee to starboard that converts into over/under berths with storage underneath. Bookshelf and storage lockers. Alpine radio/stereo includes iPad connection. Two reading lights, three overhead dome lights, two portholes and overhead hatch.

The Vacuflush head is aft to port. A separate stall shower and sink is to starboard.

Galley

The galley is to port across from the settee with a 3-burner electric stove and oven (new 2021), microwave, stainless steel sink and top-loading refrigerator/freezer. Storage abounds in drawers and lockers. Countertops are off-white Corian.

The bridge deck has two sets of tables, one single that converts the settee into a double berth and two custom day tables. There is a sit-down chart table with bolster backrest to port and a custom bar area with built-in refrigerator/freezer. The helm station is forward to starboard.
