WhisperJet 38 hull #40 MAGIC is an exceptional late-model example of this venerable class of waterjet-powered express cruisers designed by Ted Hood of Little Harbor Marine with the added benefit of being built by The Hinckley Company. The WhisperJet 38 has proven to be an iconic design known for its great looks, dry ride, best-in-class sightlines from the bridge deck and helm, a roomy cockpit with full-beam transom seating and downright amazing interior. A connoisseur's version with refined hardtop and solid teak windshield - Awlgrip painted on the outside and varnished on the inside - and a helm without peer. And of course, with waterjet propulsion the draft is only 20 inches for true shallow water capability with no worry of obstructions like lobster traps in Maine or logs on the Connecticut River. A versatile and agile performer as a day boat with fast cruising speeds approaching 25 knots, she boasts a dynamite interior as well with ample V-berth double, convertible dinette, galley and roomy enclosed ensuite head and shower.
MAGIC has benefited from light seasonal usage with indoor storage and service by her builder her entire life, with ownership that always kept her in tip-top condition with updates and upgrades along the way including recent Garmin electronics with autopilot, hull paint and foredeck nonskid and Gen 3 Hinckley Jetstick to name just a few.
Lift-kept since 2018!
MAGIC is a "must see" for anyone seriously considering a WhisperJet 38. Well-equipped with generator and beaucoup AC/reverse cycle heat (with extra stand-alone unit for the bridge deck, installed late 2018); optional bridge deck 12v reefer; electric front opening panel in the windshield for added ventilation, teak cockpit and bridge deck soles, Algae-X fuel conditioner, Stidd helm pedestal chair with joystick control built onto the armrest- and the list goes on!

Bridge Deck
Best in class sightlines through the Little Harbor teak windshield with electrically actuated center-opening window.
Forward of the cockpit the bridge deck serves as the prime entertainment area. This area can be enclosed for use with heat and air conditioning (16K BTUs) or opened to the elements aft via rollup canvas. Superb comfort is inherent in the design. The floor is teak planking overlaid on structural fiberglass decking. The hard top offers great visibility and has lighting, ventilation from overhead hatches and is lined with a custom headliner replaced new in 2025!
Additionally, the entire bridge deck hinges via an electric lift, allowing access to engines and systems for maintenance. There is also a smaller ‘day hatch’ allowing access to the engine room for quick oil checks and the like.
The helm station is located forward to starboard, with full electronics and instrumentation, including a leather Stidd helm chair with built-in Hinckley JetStick® Gen-3 steering and control module. The helm console of this generation of Whispejet is widely regarded as best-in-class: truly ergonomic, well laid out and darn good looking.
Just behind the helm seat is a custom, cushion-topped varnished shelved chest with a refrigerator/ freezer inside.
The L-shaped settee to port seats four comfortably with a tapered teak table and cover. Alternatively, the table can be removed altogether to make room for more guests or lowered to form a third berth for sleeping. A removable seat back can be used by the co-helmsman/navigator. In front of the L settee is a beautiful teak ‘nav station’ with top-opening desk with storage for chart books, cell phone ephemera, snacks, sunglasses etc.
