The Jonmeri 48 was designed as a pilothouse cruiser with exceptional performance capabilities. The layout centers around a salon in which the U-shaped dining settee opens forward to the table, rather than (typically) to the side. This allows room for an open galley to starboard. Forward of the main bulkhead is a large guest stateroom to port with double berth, a second stateroom is starboard with over/under berths, and forward is a full guest head. The master stateroom is aft with full beam to beam berth, and ensuite head with shower. The full width pilot house offers visibility and function usually found in a much larger yacht. The steering panel contains navigation electronics, engine operation and performance instrumentation. To port there is a spacious nav table with a broad accessible electrical panel behind it on the cockpit bulkhead, pilot berth to starboard. The galley is located to starboard and features deep stainless steel sinks, pressurized hot and cold water, pressurized salt water; 120 volt AC microwave; AC/DC and engine driven refrigeration, cold plate and propane stove with oven. The interior teak joinery is the finest example of quality Finnish craftsmanship. Carefully selected, matched grains are satin varnished and hand-rubbed. The cabinetry has beveled glass inserts and the dining table is a work of art with its inlaid wood design. Storage is abundant and well designed, as are the numerous opening ports, well placed handholds and large deck hatches.
DECK & HULL
The quality of construction of the Jonmeri 48 is flawless. She is built of hand-laid unidirectional and mat roving over endgrain balsa core. Gelcoat is handbrushed, rather than sprayed, to avoid bubbles that can jeopardize water resistance and invite blistering. Bilge stringers and engine bed mounts are aluminum , bonded to the hull and covered with unidirectionalglass skins; the mast step is stainless steel. All high stress areas are further reinforced with unidirectionals. The deck is fabricated with end grain balsa sandwich, with solid glass where deck gear is through-bolted. FINESSE had her teak decks removed ( 3,000 screws!) the underlayment filled and faired, and new PermaTeak Decks laid, giving her a fresh, new appearance and worry free decks for decades to come.
